Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) is a synchronization software designed to connect Windows Mobile devices and Microsoft Windows operation system. This connection is used by Windows mobile device installation, licensing and file exchange between your PC and your field device.

The last version of the software was released in 2012 and it is no longer supported in Windows Vista and it may not work properly on Windows 10.

  –  Some Windows Mobile devices are properly detected, others are not.

  –  Error message “This app isn’t working correctly. Try reinstalling Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 to fix the problem”.

Note that in some cases WMDC does not show “Installation complete” message and does not start automatically after the installation. An indication of a successful installation is the presence of a shortcut in the Start menu.

Also, if you have 64-bit version of Outlook installed on your computer, you may get the message “There is no email program associated to perform the required action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Program control panel” at the end of the installation process. You can ignore it and proceed with the next step.

8. Once your new Windows Mobile Device Center  is installed, download and run WMDC-Helper.exe as administrator.

This utility is developed by Juniper Systems and helps resolve some of the compatibility issues of Windows Mobile Device Center. It will prompt you to restart the computer when done. After the restart, connect your device and go to step 15. If WMDC is still not able to detect your device, follow the steps below.

REG ADD HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WcesComm /v SvcHostSplitDisable /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

REG ADD HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WcesComm /v SvcHostSplitDisable /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

The message “Operation completed successfully” should appear after each command, confirming that the system registry has been modified.Windows Mobile Device Center not working properly on Windows 10 5
